About Us

Assistance League of Houston is proud to announce the celebration of our 40^th year serving the Houston community.

Assistance League of Houston:

A chapter of Assistance League, a national nonprofit organization with over 24,000 members and 117 chapters and guilds nationwide
An all volunteer organization with nearly 300 members, giving over 20,000 hours each year and returning to the public an average of more than 80% of funds raised Assistance League of Houston:
Clothes children
- 2,257 children in Spring Branch and Houston Independent School Districts were given school uniforms through our Operation School Bell program.
- 500 layette sets were given to Harris County Hospital District for distribution to women completing child development classes.
Cares for children
- 2180 children watched puppet shows dealing with current topics including bullying, healthy eating habits and water safety through our Kids on the Block program.
Educates children
- 34 students received scholarships totaling more than $120,000 through our Scholarship program. The scholarship recipients were selected in partnership with Briarwood School, Spring Branch Independent School District, Lamar High School, No More Victims, The Institute for Rehabilitation & Research, University of Houston Center for Students with DisABILITIES
Cares for Families in Crisis
- 32 families at Texas Children’s Hospital were provided with a merrier holiday season through the distribution of more than $16,000 in food and gift cards.
- 500 Teddy Bears were donated to the Harris County Sheriff’s Department and Children’s Assessment Center for distribution to children in crisis.
Supports Texas artists
- More than $8000 in prize money was awarded through Assistance League of Houston Celebrates Texas Art, a highly respected juried art show for Texas artists.
