Support for the Arts

The purpose of Support for the Arts is to bring recognition to Texas artists and to increase public support for the arts. In over 34 years, we have evolved from a simple art exhibition to the present: Assistance League of Houston Celebrates Texas Art. Assistance League of Houston Celebrates Texas Art is a juried art show that showcases work of today's artists and presents opportunities for rising Texas artists to be discovered. The art is showcased for five weeks and is free to the public. Opening night features the juror who awards winners of the show and provides an informative tour of the art.

The Kids on the Block

The Kids on the Block, Inc. is a special troupe of educational, child-size puppets. The program is presented by Assistance League of Houston at no cost to the community or schools. Two or three puppets, each with their own personality and background, interact as they attempt to understand a variety of issues facing kids today. At the conclusion of the performance, students are given an opportunity to ask the "kids" questions.
