Assistance League of Houston is proud to announce the celebration of our 42nd year serving the Houston community. Assistance League of Houston is one of more than 120 chapters and guilds nationwide with over 24,000 members nationally.

Assistance League of Houston in 2009-2010:

  • Provided School Uniforms
    More than 5,700 disadvantaged Pre-Kindergarten and elementary students were provided with three polo shirts, two pants, a shoe gift card, windbreaker, socks, underwear and a hygiene kit through our Operation School Bell® program.
  • Provided Coping Strategies
    More than 1,000 elementary school children benefited from The Kids on the Block, our unique puppet theater programs about social issues including bullying, peer pressure, good nutrition, and substance abuse.
  • Awarded Scholarships
    Fifty-five students were awarded more than $77,000 through financial help from Assistance League and through endowed Scholarships.
  • Shared Holiday Cheer
    The lives of 33 families were brightened during the holiday season at Texas Children's Hospital with the distribution of more than $13,000 in food and gift cards from Celebration of Giving.
  • Supported Texas Artists
    Through our philanthropic program Support of the Arts, $8,750 was awarded to Texas artists through our highly respected, juried art show, "Assistance League of Houston Celebrates Texas Art."
