Mary Jo Peckham Award Luncheon & Fashion Show

October 14, 2010

In 1992, the name of the annual Assistance League of Houston Luncheon was changed to the Mary Jo Peckham Award Luncheon and Fashion Show, in honor of Assistance League member, Mary Jo Peckham, in recognition of her many years of outstanding service to Assistance League of Houston and the community. Since that time, the luncheon has raised more than $680,000 to support the programs of Assistance league of Houston.

The nineteenth annual Mary Jo Peckham Award Luncheon and Fashion Show benefiting the philanthropic programs of Assistance League® of Houston will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at River Oaks Country Club. Liz Jameson, Ann Berry, and Leila Gilbert, daughters of the late Mary Jo Peckham, will serve as honorary chairmen for the luncheon.

This year we take great pleasure in honoring Elaine Willits Finger. Elaine was born in Great Falls, Montana, the fourth of eight children. She left Montana on a Ford Scholarship with the San Francisco Ballet. Elaine gave up ballet to become a Flight Attendant for 22 years. While based in Houston, Elaine received her BBA with honors from University of Houston and retired from flying to study at South Texas College of Law where she received her Doctor of Jurisprudence.

Elaine currently serves on the Executive Board of the Bayou Preservation Association and is also on the boards of Da Camera of Houston, Dance Salad, and The Menninger Clinic Foundation. Elaine has also been an avid supporter of the many events that her friends have been involved in, including Assistance League of Houston, for many years. She is married to Marvy Finger, owner of the Finger Companies, a company that develops, builds and manages luxury apartments across the United States.
