Books and Brunch

The fourth annual Books & Brunch was held at the Junior League of Houston on February 24, 2010. Featured authors were Merrill Bonarrigo, Katherine Center and Lester Smith. The 240 guests in attendance enjoyed listening to Merrill as she described the Bonarrigo's family traditions of cooking and living the Mediterranean life style. Lester Smith spoke of how his addiction of eating donuts led to an opportunity to help a young man, and by doing good things for others, he receives more personal satisfaction than any oil well could bring. Finally, Katherine Center entertained the crowd with her personal experience of being a new mom and finding beauty in everyone, no matter the shape or size. The event raised more than $27,000, and the proceeds will benefit Assistance League of Houston's philanthropic programs.
